Privacy Policy – NameSnap

NameSnap helps you brainstorm brandable names and check domain availability. It's run by an individual sole trader based in Australia. Questions about privacy? Email namesnap.app@gmail.com.

No account needed. We never ask for your name, email, or payment details.

1. What we collect

What you type: the idea you describe, plus any style or refinement options you pick.
What we generate: the names we suggest and their domain availability results.
Automatically: approximate location (country/region/city) from your IP, a one-way hashed version of your IP (we never store the raw one), and standard server logs.

2. What we do with it

Generate your names, keep the service running and free of abuse, and improve the quality of our suggestions. That's it.

We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

3. Where your data goes

Anthropic (Claude)	Generating names. Your idea text is sent to their API. Under their commercial terms, API inputs aren't used to train their models by default.
Domain registry RDAP services	Checking availability. Only the candidate domain is sent, never anything about you.
Vercel	Hosting and privacy-friendly analytics (no tracking cookies)
Supabase	Database storage

Please don't type sensitive personal details (health, financial, ID numbers) into the idea box. It isn't needed to generate names.

If you click through to register a domain, you'll land on Namecheap, our affiliate partner. We may earn a commission, and their privacy policy takes over from there.

Data is processed in the US and other countries. We may also disclose information if required by law.

4. How long we keep it

Up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated. Server logs are kept for less.

5. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Just email namesnap.app@gmail.com.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights (Australian Privacy Principles, GDPR, CCPA). Australians unhappy with our response can complain to the OAIC at oaic.gov.au.

Honest limitation: since we don't collect your name or email and only store a hashed IP, we usually can't link a stored entry back to you. This protects you, but it also means we may not be able to find a specific entry to delete without more information.

6. The rest

We use encryption in transit and access controls on our database, but no system is perfectly secure. NameSnap isn't for children under 16. If this policy changes, we'll update the date above.
